In an effort to help their students take on the difficult job market, many schools of management are aligning their offerings with emerging trends in the business sector. In fact, some colleges are developing new programs that can prime degree seekers to answer the needs of industries that lie outside the U.S. mainland.
For instance, the University of Miami now allows MBA candidates to study in Puerto Rico, Miami Today reports.
This course of study, which was launched a year ago, is designed to serve students who wish to master the protectorate's industry practices. Degree seekers study the region's laws and regulations while they learn some of the same techniques that are taught on the Miami campus.
According to school officials, half of the program's enrollees earned bachelor's degrees from Puerto Rican schools, while the rest graduated from colleges on the mainland. Because many students hold full-time jobs, day-long Saturday sessions are available for individuals who do not wish to interrupt their professional development.
Similar MBA programs could help students land high-paying jobs, as PayScale.com, a research company, reports that holders of this degree have the potential to earn more than $100,000 per year. |
