The University of Illinois College of Business has announced a competition that will award one student a free MBA-level education.
According to The News-Gazette, the school recently announced that the winner of the Illinois MBA Scholarship Case Competition, to be held in February, will receive a two-year scholarship for business school. Second prize is a one-year scholarship and third place is a $10,000 grant.
In addition, students who are invited to participate in the competition and who are admitted to the MBA program will have their travel expenses deducted from their first year of tuition, the news provider reports.
"We're trying to attract the best students to Illinois, and this is one of our tools for doing that," Brian Precious, associate director of marketing, recruiting and alumni relations at the business school, told the news source.
Precious said that each first-year MBA class typically has about 100 students, and the school would like to increase that figure to about 140.
An MBA degree may help some individuals earn more money in their respective careers. PayScale.com reports that a senior financial analyst with an MBA earns between $63,883 and $82,750 per year. A marketing director with the degree accrues between $83,054 and $140,645 annually. |
