For many top MBA seekers, enrolling in business school is an avenue to a high-paying career in the corporate world. However, individuals who choose to pursue this degree may also use their skills to boost their communities.
Degree seekers in Casper, Wyoming were recently awarded the opportunity to do so, as town officials called upon local MBA candidates to help them develop a marketing strategy, according to the Wyoming Business Report.
The citys Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is enlisting the help of individuals who are enrolling in marketing management programs to draw up a plan to foster growth in Caspers downtown region. The students will help DDA representatives survey 15 percent of the community, create a long-term improvement plan for the area and maximize the impact of the organizations marketing budget.
Charles Walsh, a DDA board member, told the news soure that the use of students is intended to help the association provide a detail-rich strategy without going to the expense of contracting a consulting firm.
Similar experiences could help MBA candidates land one of the 73,700 marketing and sales management positions that the Bureau of Labor Statistics expects will be created over the next eight years.
