A leading growth equity firm has named J. Frank Brown as a new managing director.
Brown, who earned an advanced MBA degree at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, is currently the dean at the Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires (INSEAD), one of the world's largest business schools. He will leave his post in March 2011 and join General Atlantic in June.
Since becoming the dean of INSEAD in 2006, Brown has increased the number of female students in the MBA program by 50 percent. During his tenure, he opened a campus in Abu Dhabi and established the Social Innovation Centre.
Prior to joining the school, Brown worked for 26 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers and wrote the book The Global Business Leader: Practical Advice for Success in a Transcultural Marketplace.
"Along with his broad network of international business relationships, Frank brings a depth of business acumen, leadership skill and operating experience that will be extremely valuable to the growth of GA and the work we do to add value to our portfolio of global growth companies," said William E. Ford, chief executive officer of General Atlantic.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Connecticut-based General Atlantic has invested nearly $1.7 billion in growth companies. |
