A leading executive at Google has been named the new CEO of the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center (CEC), which aims to help aspiring business leaders develop promising ideas.
Kevin Willer, who earned his MBA degree from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, will officially become the organization's new CEO on April 4. Willier co-founded Google's Chicago office in 2000 and has since helped the operation grow by approximately 400 employees. Among the major partnerships that he forged at Google were with Dell, United Airlines, Sears and Sprint.
As leader of the CEC, Willer hopes to utilize his skills and experience to connect the region's most promising entrepreneurs with sustainable, high-growth businesses.
"There is an entrepreneurial renaissance emerging in Chicago and [CEC] is at its epicenter," says James J. O'Connor, CEC board co-chairman. "Kevin is the ideal leader at the ideal time."
The mission of the CEC is to advance professionals who can contribute to the city's economic development and civic leadership. Willer is already well connected in Chicago, as he currently serves on The Economic Club of Chicago and on Mayor Richard Daley's Council of Technology. |
