| Summit in NYC to recognize thriving small business owners |

Many individuals who earn their MBA degree go on to lead successful businesses. Their strategies and entrepreneurial spirit may provide inspiration to students who are attending business schools.
The annual Small Business Summit serves as a platform to recognize some of these leaders. The sixth annual event is scheduled to take place in New York City on March 8 and will feature an Small Business Strategy Awards ceremony. Also on the agenda is a Hot Tech Demo that will spotlight innovative technologies that are helping companies flourish.
Individuals who wish to nominate a company for a small business award have until February 1 to send their submissions. Entries for the demo will be accepted until February 8. Ramon Ray, editor of SmallBizTechnology.com, said that organizers received more than 100 entries for last year's Hot Tech Demo.
"We felt we must continue to showcase the best technologies for growing businesses in 2011," Ray added.
According to Rueters, the company Paychex recently assembled a list of regulations that will influence small businesses in 2011, which included healthcare reform. Small companies that purchase health insurance will receive tax credits. In addition, new employment laws will require greater transparency to workers on minimum wage and overtime policies, the news provider reported. |
