The Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law has named Jay Readey as its new executive director.
Readey, who earned an MBA from Yale School of Management, will officially join the organization in December. The Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, which is a consortium of 45 Chicago-based firms, champions civil rights and equal opportunity for poor, disadvantaged and minority populations.
Readey has ample experience in the nonprofit sector, including his most recent position as president and founder of the MetroAlliance, which is a collection of community change organizations. He also served as a technical assistance provider to Illinois ResourceNet, which helped nonprofit groups access federal grants.
Prior to his nonprofit roles, Readey worked as a lawyer at several different firms.
"Jay's commitment to equal opportunity and disadvantaged communities has shown throughout his career," said Edward Feldman, who serves as chair of the board of directors of the Committee for Civil Rights.
According to the Connecticut Business New Journal, Readey's alma mater, Yale School of Management, recently received a $10 million donation from investor Wilbur Ross. The gift will fund a new library on the business school's campus. |
