| Simmons school of management study reveals new information about the gender gap |

A recent study that was conducted by the Center for Gender in Organizations (CGO), which is part of Simmons University's School of Business and School of Management, determined that while blatant gender discrimination is on the decline in corporate settings, subtle bias is still prevalent.
CGO's study suggests that women can combat gender bias by forming alliances with men in the workplace. Women who were polled revealed that though they sought help in combating perceived discrimination from friends and spouses, the most successful assistance that they received was from male bosses.
"It may be that help in dealing most effectively with gender bias must come from people who have formal authority in organizations, and who are themselves unencumbered by gender issues; they are the ones best positioned to change the situation," said Dr. Spela Trefalt, a Simmons School of Management professor and co-author of the CGO study.
Simmons University stated that its faculty seek to teach women in its MBA program strategies for forming alliances with male colleagues as a way to combat gender bias and discrimination in the work place. |
