Although negative stigmas have been associated with online education, recent statistics suggest that MBA degree seekers who learn over the internet are gaining marketable skill sets from their web-based programs.
Students who were enrolled in Penn State's online MBA program recently scored in the 90th percentile on the Educational Testing Service's MBA Major Field Test, which is intended to measure individuals' proficiency in business.
Test takers are required to complete a series of multiple choice questions that are based on case studies. The exam is designed to determine students' expertise on business-related subjects, such as marketing, management, finance, and managerial accounting.
Representatives from Penn State's online program scored an average of 261 out of 300 points, which placed them in the top 10 percent of all other students. A total of 24,785 students from 230 schools across the country sat for the exam this year.
These findings suggest that online MBA degree programs can provide students and professionals with the same - if not better - quality education that they would experience in a traditional college classroom. |
